Hey, that's my house! And that looks like an Alyson and a Ben? I think you're doing a great job capturing the essence of things; now you need to hone your skill at placing facial features so they are believable. I think each element is well-done in itself, but you could work on making them look less flat and more like they are "in" the face, if that makes sense (and not that I know how to do this either). I know a lot of artists put a curved line where the eyes and other features go, and that helps align things so they look 3D.
